Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Sindhe has asserted that India would be a power surplus country by the next couple of years. Talking to reporters in Agartala, Mr Sindhe said that India was able to produce 45,000 MW power over the past four-and-a-half years and another about 65,000 MW power generation would be added within 11th five year plan. Powar generation was only 40000 MW in 8th, 9th and 10th five years plans.Mr Sindhe is visiting Tripura Capital to lay the foundation of NEEPCO’s 52 MW combined cycle power generation in Ramchandranagar near Agartala.
