Government of India and the World Bank today signed 286.15 million dollars Loan and Credit Agreements in New Delhi. The loan was assigned for two projects which aim to support India’s agenda of integrating environmental and ecological safeguards into its growth strategy.Environment and Forests minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh attended the signing of the Agreements. 64.15 million dollars were assigned for Capacity Building for Industrial Pollution Management Project and 222 million dollars for Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project. World Bank Country Director for India Mr. Roberto Zagha said that the Government of India has increased its focus on environmental management, which will go a long way to ensure that India's high growth is environmentally sustainable, both domestically and globally. He added that these projects will support this important agenda of the government, by helping build capacity and institutions in two diverse but equally crucial areas.
