India wins One-Day International series against Australia

India regained second place after Australia in the ICC ODI ranking which was released on Sunday. India have left behind South Africa after winning the ODI series against Australia. Despite the defeat, Australia maintained its numero uno position in the list with 130 points, while India has 117 points and South Africa is at third place with 116 points. The capacity crowd of 27,000 sat through the entire rigmarole before trooping home disappointed. But the outgoing rainy season has proved to be a blessing for Team India. As without a ball being bowled and a win at Kochi, India has won a series for the first at home in over two decades against Australia. The last time the Aussies had lost an ODI series in India was in 1986-87 when the hosts had won by a 3-2 margin. This is the first time that India have beaten Australia in an ODI series since 1998. This is also the second such case in the three-match series, Australia returned home without winning a single game in their tour of India as they lost the two-match Test series 0-2 before the ODI series.
