Gagan Narang added a third gold to his tally, while Samaresh Jung clinched his second as Indian shooters continued to reign supreme shattering three meet records on the fifth day of the Commonwealth Championships in New Delhi on Monday. Narang teamed up with Sanjeev Rajput to notch up the gold medal in the men's 50 meter Rifle team event. The Indian duo had a combined score of 2323 and a large share of the credit for the gold went to Rajput who shot 1170, while Narang managed a score of 1153.India's overall medal tally stood at 26 (13 gold, eight silver and five bronze), way ahead of second-placed England, which has won 15 medals so far. Australia occupied the third spot with 10 medals. Jung, who clinched 10m Air Pistol team gold yesterday, was bang on in the individual event as well and after equalling the meet record for the qualifying score, he went on to beat the championship record for the final score.
