India have won against Srilanka by nine wickets in the first of the five- match ODI series in Dambulla. The visitors achieved the victory target of 217 runs in just 28.5 overs. A blistering knock of unbeaten 128 by Shikhar Dhawan and 82 not out by skipper Virat Kohli wrapped up the match hurriedly. Earlier, India, opting to bowl first, bundled out Sri Lanka for 216 in 43.2 overs. Opener Niroshan Dickwella top scored for the hosts with his 64-run knock while Angelo Mathews remained not out on 36. For India left-arm spinner Axar Patel took three wickets. Kedar Jadhav, Y Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah captured two wickets each.Team India had recently white-washed the 3-match Test series against the Lankans and will be looking to take that momentum into the limited-overs' leg of the tour as well. For Sri Lanka, on the other hand, the ODI series is more than just avenging the Test defeat. They need two more wins to confirm their spot in the 2019 ODI World Cup by way of automatic qualification.
