India win 5th Test against England by innings and 75 runs, clinch series 4-0

India won the fifth and final Cricket Test against England by an innings and 75 runs at Chennai today, clinching the five-match series 4-0.Chasing India's 282-run first innings lead, the visitors began their second innings on the fifth and final day, at their overnight 12 for no loss. A draw was on the cards when England were 103 for no loss at Lunch. But they collapsed to 207 all out in the post-Tea session, due to poor shot selection and disciplined bowling by the host spinners. Left arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the hero of the day with an exceptional analysis of seven wickets for 48 runs. Triple-centurion Karun Nair won the Man of the Match award for his unbeaten 303-run knock that set the tone for the victory. India not only won their ninth match of the year to stretch an unbeaten run in Tests to 18, the hosts also notched up their biggest-ever series victory over England. Their previous best was the 3-0 verdict under Mohammed Azharuddin's captaincy in 1992-93. This is also the Indian team's fifth successive Test series win since September last year.
