India will not let terrorists succeed in their nefarious designs:PM; Dr. Singh lays foundation stone of Hydro Power project in J&K

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that India is firmly united against terrorism and will not let terrorists succeed in their nefarious designs. The Prime Minister said this while paying tributes to Army personnel who laid down their lives combating terrorism in Srinagar yesterday. Dr. Manmohan Singh was addressing a public meeting at Kishtwar this morning after laying the foundation stone of the 850 MW Ratle Hydro Electric Power project along with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.The Prime Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a major decline in militancy-related activities and the last two years remained most peaceful. However, he stressed that such militant attacks have to be curbed totally.

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union Minister for Health and family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad and J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also spoke on the occasion.Our correspondent adds that the 850 MW Ratle Hydro Electric Power project at Kishtwar, Chougan ground of Jammu region, costing Rs 550 thousand crores is expected to be complete in five years. The Prime Minister in his address assured all possible support from the centre to exploit the over 14,000 MW Hydro Power potential in the state. He also announced an additional 150 MW power supply from the centre to overcome power shortage in the State. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said that the Centre and the State Governments are working together to establish peace in the state for ensuring speedy progress and prosperity.
