India wheat exports over 60 lakh tonnes from Sept 2011-March '13: Food Min

India exported over 60 lakh tonnes of wheat from September 2011 to 31st March this year. Out of this, nearly 31 lakh tonnes was exported under the Open General Licence from privately-held stocks. Giving this information in the Lok Sabha today, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prof. K.V. Thomas said over 29 lakh tonnes of wheat was exported from stocks in the Central Pool. Wheat is exported from India through global tenders. The floor price at present is three hundred US dollars per metric tone. The Minister ruled out any change in this policy.
