India welcomes Surjeet Singh

Surjeet Singh, an Indian prisoner in Pakistan jail for the last 30 years has crossed over to his motherland, today, after being released by Pak government. His family and friends, who were there at Attari to welcome him, erupts in joy soon after 70-years-old Surjit Singh walks over into Indian territory via Attari-Wagah joint Check Post. His native village Phidda in Ferozepur district is all set to welcome him.
He was arrested by Pakistan in 1981 allegedly for spying and was given death sentence which was later commuted to life sentence in 1989.
