Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor today said India wanted to foster cordial and peaceful relations with China and Pakistan. Addressing troops on 62nd Army Day in New Delhi he said that India believes in maintaining peaceful and cordial relations with its neighboring countries. On the insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern States, the Army Chief said the current situation was very much under control. <br/><br/>Referring to the changes in the geo-political and security situation, Gen. Kapoor said this is an era of bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation and added that India had pursued it by holding highly enriching joint training exercises with several countries. Earlier General Deepak Kapoor today said the process to provide night vision capabilities to battle tanks for warfare in darkness is in progress.<br/><br/>He said it takes at least three to four years and some of the projects are likely to fructify by next year. Referring to the ban on a Singapore-based company after its name figured in a CBI probe against former Ordnance Factory Board Chief Sudipto Ghosh, Mr. Kapoor said the Defence Ministry had recently decided to allow the Artillery trials, pending a decision on awarding of the contract till the case in the court is over. <br/><br/>The President, Prime Minister, Defence minister and the Army chief have greeted the forces on the army day. Earlier, glowing tributes were paid to solidiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation, at the Amar Jawan Joyti this morning. The Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor also took the salute at an impressive parade in New Delhi.
