Army Chief General Bipin Rawat today said India wants peace on Line of Control, but cease fire violations by Pakistan will be responded to by fitting reply. He also brought out that Confidence Building Measures are being further strengthened along the Line of Actual Control with China to reduce tensions. <br/><br/>Addressing the Army Day Parade in Delhi Cant, General Rawat highlighted contribution of Indian Army in UN peace keeping missions, modernization projects in the pipeline and welfare schemes for serving soldiers, ex servicemen and war widows. He reinforced the point that redressal of individual grievances by serving personnel should be carried out through established mechanisms within Army rather than resorting to platform of social media for the same.<br/><br/>On the occasion, the Army chief awarded fifteen Sena Medals, including five posthumously, for individual acts of gallantry. He also gave a way fourteen Chief Of Army Staff Unit citations for commendable performance of the units. <br/>Earlier in the morning, the three Service Chiefs laid wreaths at Amar Jawan Jyoti, in India Gate to commemorate the Army Day. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports that it was on this day in 1949 that Field Marshall K M Cariappa took over as first Indian Commander-in-Chief. The day is celebrated to pay homage and salute to brave Indian soldiers who have been sacrificing their lives for defending territorial integrity of the country.
