India wakes up to partial solar eclipse

A total solar eclipse occurred today. From India, it was seen as partial solar eclipse in different parts of country today. People woke up with the solar eclipse this morning in Uttar Pradesh. The Jawahar planetorium Director Pramod Pandey told AIR that eclipse was seen partially between 6.19 am to-6.47 am in the state .The eclipse lasted about 27 to 30 minutes in the state. <br/><br/> On the occasion large number of people with religious faith took dip in Sangam at Allahabad and in Ganga river at Varanasi in the early morning hours .Many enthusiastic people also assembled at sangam this morning to witness partial solar eclipse.

India wakes up to partial solar eclipse

A total solar eclipse will occur today. From India it will be seen as partial solar eclipse at sunrise. The same will be visible from most places of India except from North West and western parts of the country. According to Ministry of Science, the duration of the eclipse increases reaching upto a duration of about one hour and more in extreme north east India and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The total phase will begin at 5:47 AM and will end at 9:08 AM. While the partial phase will end at 10:05 AM.<br/><br/>The Ministry said, eclipsed Sun should not be viewed with the naked eye, even for a very short time. It will cause permanent damage of the eyes leading to blindness. Safe technique to observe the solar eclipse is either by using proper filter like aluminized Mylar, black polymer or welding glass of shade number.
