The first one day international of the 5-match series between India and the West Indies will be played in Kochi today. The match will begin at 2:30 PM. Ravichandran Ashwin has been rested for this series, the tournament which is India's last at the home soil before the next year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Kuldeep Yadav has replaced Ashwin in the squad. West Indies have recalled Marlon Samuels for the tournament. It is the second time in 12 months that Kochi will host the India-West Indies match.Both teams had played the first ODI of last year's series at this venue, the match which India won quite easily. Rain could play spoilsport in today's match as there is a forecast of scattered thunderstorms and a 50 per cent chance of rain.
