India VS England ODI abandoned due to Rain

The play in the first Cricket One-day International between India and England at Riverside ground in Chester-le-Street is now held up due to rain. Earlier, put in to bat, India set a victory target of 275 runs for the hosts. The visitors made 274 for seven in the stipulated 50 overs. Opening batsman Parthiv Patel was the top scorer with a fluent 95. It was also his highest ODI score. The other notable scorers were Virat Kohli – 55, and ODI debutant Ajinkya Rahane who was out for 40.Chasing the target of 275, England were 27 for two in 7.2 overs when rain interrupted the play.
