After the fall of four wickets with only 63 on the board, Skipper Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav enlivened the proceedings for the hosts with a fine 200-run partnership for the 5th wicket. In the process, Kohli hit his 27th ODI century by making 122. Jadhav was out for 120, which was his second ODI hundred. Earlier, sent in to bat, the visitors piled up 350 for 7 in the stipulated 50 overs, which was their highest ODI total against the hosts. It bettered the 338 for eight, in the tied encounter of the 2011 World Cup against India in Bengaluru.
