Days before New Delhi hosts the third India-Africa Forum Summit, India voiced concern over the decline in development assistance to Africa.<br/><br/>India's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Bhagwant Bishnoi stressed at General Assembly that it is important not only the aid commitments are met at the earliest, but also the aid continues to flow to those most in need.<br/><br/>Bishnoi further added that the aid should not be diverted away from social sectors into climate change mitigation, for which the support must be new and additional.<br/><br/>Highlighting the growing economic cooperation between India and Africa, he pointed out that India-Africa trade has doubled in the last five years to 72 billion dollars.
