Vietnam has sought to further strengthen its strategic partnership with India in various sectors. Talking to newsmen in New Delhi this morning, the visiting Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang said that his visit will deepen the existing economic co-operation between the two traditional friends.
Several agreements are likely to be signed between the two countries, mainly in the area of oil and natural gas exploration and defence cooperation. An agreement on extradition treaty is also likely following the delegation level talks between the visiting dignitary and the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New Delhi today.
Earlier, asserting that the relationship with Vietnam was not directed against China, official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs said the two leaders will discuss entire gamut of relationship which will include cooperation in Hydrocarbon sector also.
The visiting Vietnamese President was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhawan this morning. Mr. Truong Tan Sang will also be meeting the political leaders. He will also address a business meeting later in the day. The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will be giving a banquet in the honour of the visiting dignitary this evening.
