India has developed indigenous technology for using thorium in nuclear power generation. Thorium utilisation has been a part of the ongoing activities of the Atomic Energy Department. <br/><br/>This is a prelude to the third stage of India's nuclear power programme. Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh gave this information in the Lok Sabha today. <br/><br/>In a written answer, he informed the House that besides India, China, USA, France, Russia and Czech Republic have restarted thorium-related technology development for nuclear power generation. This is a novel technology involving several challenges, he said.
