Terming the visit of US President Barack Obama as a historic milestone, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has said both the US and India have profound responsibility to work together for peace, stability, and security in the world. In her speech at the banquet hosted in honour of the visiting Dignitary and the first lady, the President said the two countries must continue joint efforts to reform global institutions to reflect contemporary realities, and increase their effectiveness in meeting current challenges.Referring to the civil nuclear initiative, the President said it is an instrument and a symbol of transformed relations.Mrs Pratiba Patil said India and US had built a strategic partnership on the solid bedrock of shared ideals and common interests.Calling for tapping the huge potential to work together, the President said that both countries should work together for a sustainable and inclusive global economic development, to address the challenges of infrastructure, clean energy, food and health security besides educating and empowering the youth especially women.
