India, US decide to scale up cooperation in energy security and climate

India and the US have decided to scale up cooperation in the field of energy security and climate, reaching an agreement to launch an initiative on promoting the use of clean energy, including transfer of innovative technology.<br/><br/>As part of their cooperation in sustainable development, the two countries would encourage mobilisation of public and private resources to support establishment of funds that would invest in clean energy projects in India.<br/><br/>According to an MoU signed between the two countries during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's state visit last week, India and the US will launch a process of bilateral collaboration to support their efforts to achieve sustainable, climate-friendly growth through the development, deployment and as appropriate transfer of transformative and innovative technologies in areas of mutual interest. The text of the Mou was released in Washington today.<br/><br/>
