India and the United States have agreed that Pakistan must tackle terrorism directed against India. In the meetings with the senators and the Congressmen in Washington today the Prime Minister Dr. Manmoan Singh briefed them about terrorism emanating from Pakistan and said that it is in the interest of both the countries to bring terrorists to justice.<br/><br/>Dr. Singh said that India wants peace but Pakistan must tackle terrorism directed against India. The situation in Afghanistan and China also came up for discussion in the meetings the Prime Minister had with American leaders.<br/><br/>Later during his address at the Council on Foreign Relation, the Prime Minister said that there is a certain amount of assertiveness by China lately, which had to be taken note of. He said that India and China have boundary dispute but added that that the two countries are taking steps to solve it through dialogue.<br/><br/>Dr. Singh said that China has a higher growth rate but India has values which are more important than development. Addressing the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington he said, India has chosen the democratic path for development and would not like to deviate from it. Dr.Singh said that there is a certain amount of assertiveness by China lately, which has to be taken note of. He said that India and China have boundary dispute but added that that the two countries are taking steps to solve it through dialogue.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent R.K. Raina reports from Washington that the Prime Minister said that the terrorist infrastructure is still intact in Pakistan and no concrete action has been taken against the people responsible for last year’s Mumbai attacks. Calling for strict action against the perpetrators of Mumbai carnage, Dr. Singh urged the international community to exert pressure on Pakistan to bring the terrorists to justice. He said there was now impeccable evidence that the conspiracy to carry out Mumbai attacks was planned in Pakistan and executed in connivance with some people in Pakistan. But the perpetrators were moving freely, he pointed out. The Prime Minister said Indian Government took number of initiatives over the past few years in normalizing relations with Pakistan but regretted that Mumbai attacks derailed the dialogue process with Pakistan. He pointed out that terrorism can not be fought on selective basis.<br/>
