India urges SAARC nations to bring down all trade barriers

India has urged the SAARC countries to bring down all trade barriers coming in the way of trade among the member nations. Speaking at the Fifth Meeting of the South Asian Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA) Ministerial Council in Maldives capital Male, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma said the focus should be to bring down the tariff levels for those items which still remain within the sensitive list. Anand Sharma thanked the Maldives Government for the gracious hospitality and expressed his happiness that all member countries have ratified the Accession to Agreement on SAFTA signed during the Colombo Summit in 2008.
