India urges Intl Community to help Afghanistan in its over all development

New Delhi has called upon the International Community to set Afghanistan firmly on the road to recovery, reconstruction, security, development and prosperity.

Addressing the International Afghanistan Conference today at Bonn in Germany, the External Affairs Minister, Mr. S.M Krishna said that much have been achieved after a new democratic Constitution adopted by the country but much remains to be done to improve the security situation on the ground and in public faith in future.

He said the International Community needs to support Afghanistan in the long term for both its security and development.

In a press release issued at New Delhi, India has said that Bonn conference and upcoming conference of 2012 will be providing a road map for Afghanistan future.

Referring to Strategic Partnership of Afghanistan with other countries including India, External Affairs Minister, Mr. S.M Krishna said that political commitment and conference decisions alone are not enough. Mr. Krishna said that Afghanistan is facing security governance development and investment deficits.

He said that in all four of these deficits, Afghanistan require enormous assistant for a long time.

Underlining issues of terrorism and insurgency, Mr. Krishna strongly advocated that International community must ensure that as it reduces its military commitment to the country, it also increases economic commitment to the security and rebuilding of Afghanistan.
