India unveils roadmap to build new Defence technologies

India has unveiled a new roadmap to build new Defence technologies for the 21st century both for strategic as well as asymmetric warfare. Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) Director General VK Saraswat said in New Delhi ,under the new strategy priority will be given to cutting edge technologies, and countering terrorism.<br/><br/>He said the future weaponry would be a convergence of nano, bio and information technology, with laser-guided systems. Ahead of a three-day conference of directors of various DRDO laboratories beginning tomorrow, Mr.Saraswat said an assortment of weapons were being developed to confront low-intensity conflicts be that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir , the North-East or Maoist rebel violence in different parts of the country. The DRDO chief said a fourth-generation night vision devise was under development to curb the issue of tanks visibility when they operate at night.<br/>Meanwhile the 34th annual conference of the DRDO beginning in New Delhi tomorrow will be inaugurated by the Defence Minister Mr.A.K.Antony. Our correspondent reports,as warfare energy security is being considered an important component, the DRDO is concentrating on fuel sciences as well as on developing alternate fuels.
