India today said its relationship with the United States will not be affected after the US decision to sell F16 jet fighters to Pakistan. New Delhi maintained that relations between the countries are broad based.<br/><br/>On a query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup, however, reiterated that New Delhi is unhappy with the decision of the United States in this regard.<br/><br/>On the 13th, India had summoned the US Ambassador Richard Verma and conveyed its displeasure over the US decision. New Delhi had categorically stated that it disagrees that such arms transfers will help combat terrorism. <br/><br/>Pentagon had maintained that the proposed sale will improve Pakistan's capability to meet current and future security threats. The US decision came despite strong objections by a number of American lawmakers over the sale.
