External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said India and United Arab Emirates should work together for the early adoption of India's proposed Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations. Speaking at the 11th India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi, Mrs Swaraj said, the two countries have emerged as strong voices against terrorism and rejected extremism.

The Minister also asked his visiting UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to consider investments in the Indian hydrocarbon sector, especially in the areas of refining and petrochemicals. She said, there is also ample scope of deepening cooperation in the upstream and midstream petroleum sectors. She hoped enthusiasm on both sides will lead to identification of joint projects in the public or private sector.

On consular issues, the Minister requested the UAE for timely sharing of information with India about arrest or detention of any Indian national or of Indian nationals already in UAE jails. She said, it will help in taking necessary action and providing them consular services. Mrs. Swaraj hoped the educational needs of the Indian children will be given continued attention by the UAE leadership as has been done over the last many decades.
