India, Turkey agree to work for conclusion of CCIT

India and Turkey have decided to work together along with other like minded countries for the early finalisation of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, CCIT.<br/><br/>Turkey is the first country in the Organisation of Islamic Conference( OIC) to agree for working with India on finalising the convention.<br/><br/>In a joint declaration on terrorism agreed to at the talks between the the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the visiting President of Turkey Abdullah Gul in New Delhi on Tuesday, the two sides denounced those who sponsor, abet and instigate terrorism and provide them safe havens. <br/><br/>The officials of the two sides have been asked to develop an action plan with specific measures and time frames to enhance bilateral cooperation in combating terrorism.<br/><br/>The Turkish President said that India's contribution in Afghanistan is very important and expressed the desire to work together with India to bring stability there.<br/><br/>India made it plain to Turkey about India's role, interest and goodwill for Afghanistan. <br/><br/>The two countries came out with a joint declaration on cooperation in Science and Technology and decided to explore the possibility to work together in identifying projects in IT, Telecommunication, Space Reserch, Bio and environmental -technology.<br/>The Turkish President is in India on a five day state visit. He will be visiting Agra on Wednesday and Mumbai on Thursday before going to Dhaka on Friday.
