Play resumed in the fifth match between India and Australia of the tri-nation series at Sydney. Earlier, rain interrupted the play rendering it a 44-over-a-side affair. India were 16 for no loss in 4.2 overs Shikhar Dhawan (not out 5) and Ajinkya Rahane (not out 8) opened for India. Australia won the toss and opted to field.India have failed to win a single match in this series so far, while the hosts have already made it to the final with a victory in every game they have played.
