India is focusing on strengthening economic partnership with Mongolia in various sectors including coal, gold, uranium and steel. Addressing the Indian community at the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar Wednesday evening, the President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil said that new areas would also be explored for a more dynamic role in the core strengths of the Mongolian economy. The President said that the Indian economy has recorded high rates of growth on a sustained basis since the process of economic reforms began. She asserted that India is among the most attractive destinations globally for doing business. Several Indian companies have expanded their global presence in various sectors across the world, including Mongolia. She exhorted Mongolia to work in unison with India for the benefit of both peoples. AIR correspondent reports, Ms. Patil’s visit to Mongolia is aimed at finding new avenues in trade and cultural relationship with the strategically placed East Asian nation. Congratulating Mongolia for assuming the Chair of the Community of Democracies, she assured Mongolia of all support in providing leadership to this group. Highlighting the prominent role being played by the small Indian community in Mongolia, she asked them to further carry forward bilateral relations by providing the relationship content, substance and meaning. Mrs. Patil reached Ulaanbaatar Wednesday evening on a four day state visit to Mongolia after successfully concluding her South Korea visit which saw the landmark civil-nuclear cooperation agreement being signed between the two countries.
