The Union Minister for Industry and Commerce Anand Sharma said in Bangalore that VISA fee hike for skilled workers and ban on outsourcing in the US will be taken up during his visit to USA later this month. Speaking in a press conference after an interaction with the Coffee growers, Mr Sharma noted that the matter will be taken up in the annual US trade forum meeting. He felt that protectionism policy of the US will be counter productive and even IT professionals and opinion leaders of America are critical of this policy. He said, India is also looking whether these policies violate WTO commitments. He hoped that US Trade meeting will help find meaningful solution to this issue. The Industry and Commerce minister argued that Indian BPOs abroad have created jobs for local talents also and hence a ban on outsourcing will affect them also.
