India to provide grant of RS 3.26crore to Nepal for restoration of heritage sites

India is providing a grant assistance of 3.26 crore rupees to Nepal for restoration of built-heritages of historical and cultural importance in Lalitpur district. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Mr. Rakesh Sood laid the foundation stone of the project at a function held at Napichandra Mahabihar at Lalitpur yesterday. The project will be implemented by Nepal's department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Kathmandu through the local users’ groups in close consultation and coordination with Society for Development of Lalitpur.According to apr’s release issued Indian Embassy, Kathmandu, the project reflected the importance accorded by India in preserving and promoting rich heritage of Nepal, which also symbolises the strong and close bonds in the field of cultural between the two friendly neighbours.The project implemented under India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme, which has an outlay of over 5600 crores rupees, has been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal. At present more than 370 large and small projects were being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development with the assistance of the government of India.
