India is to provide grant assistance of one crore and seventy-eight lakh nepali rupees (1.78 crores) for the construction of a three storied building in Dhankuta district of Eastern Nepal under the India-Nepal Economic Co-operation programme.A memorandum of understanding was signed yesterday by the Embassy of India, in Kathmandu and the District Development Committee Dhankuta and Shree Sharda Higher Secondary School Marekakatahre. The new infrastructure being constructed with Indian grant assistance would cater to the educational needs of over 500 students, of which 55 per cent are girls. This is the third development project in the Dhankuta District being undertaken with the assistance of Government of India under the Small Development Projects.The India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme which has an outlay over 6000 crores nepali rupees has more than 400 large and small projects. The projects are completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development.
