India to oppose protectionism in all forms at the G-20 Summit

India will oppose protectionism of all forms in the G 20 summit beginning in Pittsburgh USA next week. The third G 20 summit will coordinate the views of developed and emerging market economies on trade, investment and growth and also look to the strengthening of the regulatory frame work of financial institutions.Briefing media on the forth coming visit of the Prime Minister to the G 20 summit, the Foreign Secretary Mrs. Nirupama Rao said, India will advocate reforms of the international financial institutions like World Bank and IMF to keep pace with the ground realities of the changing world.The Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will lead a high level delegation to the multilateral summit to be hosted by the President of the United States Mr. Barack Obama. The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia who is also the G 20 sherpa ,the National Security Advisor Mr. M.K. Narayanan and senior officials will be part of the Indian delegation.The G 20 summit in Pittsburg will review the measures taken in the Washington and London summits to stop the free fall of the world economy. Leaders at the summit are likely to exchange views on the stimulus and growth measures and focus on reforms of the international financial institutions besides debating on the timing of the exit strategies.
