<span style="color: #222222;">Union Minister of State for Fisheries and Information &amp; Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan today said that India has made it clear that it will not succumb to pressures to withdraw subsidies for the fisheries sector at the WTO meet. The Minister was addressing a meeting organized by the Kerala Pradesh Matsya Thozhilali Sangham at Munambam this evening. He said the Union Government has devised several schemes to uplift the lives of fishermen in the country. An allocation of 20,000 crore rupees has been earmarked under the Prime Minister's Matsya Sampada Yojana for the benefit of fishing community.<br />''<br />''The schemes include the development of fishing harbours, Fish Landing Centres, Group Insurance Schemes for fishermen, Integrated Fisheries Villages, and development of fishing clusters among others. He said several schemes have been envisaged to double the income of the fishing community.</span><br />
