An Indian delegation leaves for China on Monday to study advanced food grain storage technology. A huge quantity of grain is rotting in India due to lack of such facilities. The four-member delegation is led by Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas. Talking to media in New Delhi, Mr Thomas said, better food grain storage facilities are a must as India prepares to implement the Food Security Act. India needs to develop an additional 172 lakh tonnes of food grain storage facility. He added that it is necessary that modern technology should be used for buffer and operational stock of food grains to maintain the public distribution system and general warehousing. <br/>
