Minister of Power Piyush Goyal said India will now lead the world towards clean energy rather than follow. Felicitating 102 awardees at Concentrating Solar Thermal and Solar Cooker Excellence Awards in New Delhi today, Mr. Goyal said with 21 gigawatt of grid-connected new solar projects, India has signaled to the world that it is ready to lead. The Minister said, the country has exceeded solar targets by 116 percent this year and projects of 11,000 MW have already been awarded.<br/><br/>Mr. Goyal said solar programme will not only ensure energy security of the country but also provide power to the last person at the bottom of the pyramid. The awards were given to various stakeholder groups including state nodal agencies, manufacturers and suppliers of the technology and a wide range of beneficiaries to recognize their achievements made in the sector.
