India to invite Pak Foreign Minister Qureshi

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna will invite his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi to India during his visit to Islamabad in July as part of efforts to reduce the trust deficit between the two neighbours. Mr.Krishna told reporters on his way back home from a visit to Kazakhstan that these high-level visits will only act as some kind of a panacea to reduce the trust deficit. He said, leaders can talk to each other with more confidence and that certainly will create the right kind of atmosphere for very productive talks.Pakistan said it will adopt a positive and constructive approach to its upcoming talks with India with a view to resolving all outstanding issues, including the Kashmir problem, on the basis of sovereign equality and mutual respect.Briefing a joint meeting of the standing committees on foreign affairs of the two houses of Parliament in Islamabad, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said, the resumption of the peace process is an important development but is not an end in itself.The meeting was convened at Mr Qureshi's request as part of his efforts to evolve national consensus on key foreign policy issues like the peace process with India.
