In a landmark development for Indian football, the country has been awarded the right to host the 2017 Under-17 FIFA World Cup. The decision was taken at a meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee at Salvador de Bahia in Brazil yesterday. By virtue of being the host country, India will take part in the 24-nation tournament for the first time in its history. AIFF President Praful Patel described the development as historic and said this is the moment for which they have been waiting. This will the biggest ever football tournament in the country as this is the first FIFA event in the country's history
