India to hold first Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting in Bengaluru from Feb 5 under G-20 presidency

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Power Minister R.K Singh on Thursday said, it is a privilege for India to hold the first Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting under the G-20 Presidency to address the global challenges of energy transitions.<br />''<br />''Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, the meeting will play an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international economic issues.<br />''<br />''India will hold the first Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting in Bengaluru from the 5th to the 7th of February under the G-20 presidency. India is hosting 150 delegates from 19 countries, European Union and 9 guest countries. In addition, leading International Organisations and Regional Organisations and knowledge partners will be part of the meeting. The Union Minister said the G-20 members represent around 85 per cent of the global GDP, over 75 per cent of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world population.<br />''<br />''Giving details of the events, Mr Singh the focus of the meeting is to achieve energy transition by addressing technology gaps and financing in a time-bound and affordable manner. The Minister also said that ETWG will also deliberate upon aiding the rapid development, commercialisation and diffusion of high-priority and critical technologies required for the energy transition. Mr. Singh said that in recent years the energy transition has come to the centre stage and India is leading the world in this direction.<br />''<br />''The Power Minister also called upon the developed economies to transfer the technologies and finance to the developing countries so that they can meet the challenges of energy transition in future.<br />''<br />''He said India has emerged as one of most attractive investment destinations for renewable energy in the world due to steady and transparent policies.</span><br />
