India to give visa on arrival to Buddha followers

The Centre has said all countries having Lord Buddha followers would be given facility of visa on arrival.

Inaugurating a two day International Buddha Conclave at Varanasi today, Union Minister of Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai said tourists coming from abroad were being provided maximum facilities to promote tourism in the country. He said his ministry had also decided to develop a Ghat in the temple town Varanasi in the name of Lord Buddha on the bank of river Ganga. He said his ministry had adopted a Keep India Clean Mission to keep clean the cities particularly tourist’s places across the country to attract maximum tourists.

The Minister appealed to the state governments to take initiatives to achieve the targets of the Mission. He asked UP government and local administration to come forward for keeping Varanasi clean and his ministry was ready to provide all types of help.

AIR correspondent covering the conclave reports that International Buddhist Conclave has been organised by the Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Ministry of Tourism Government of India jointly with a view to showcasing and projecting the Buddhist Heritage of the country. Panel discussions, interactions with tour operators, photo exhibitions and stalls promoting Buddhist sites are main highlights of the Conclave.
