India will double its contribution in Partners in Population Development, PPD, and initiative. Speaking at a function, the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad announced at Yogyakarta in Indonesia that an enhanced annual contribution from 40,000 to 80,000 US dollars. He urged the participating countries to increase their contribution to strengthen the alliance. Mexico expressed its interest to revive its membership. The three-day meeting which concluded today, intense deliberations were held to strengthen the PPD movement. AIR correspondent adds that the PPD is an inter-governmental alliance of 24 countries.
