India said it will contribute 5 lakh US Dollars to the United Nations's Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) for the year 2016-17. It stressed that the international response is falling significantly short of the challenges posed by humanitarian crises. <br/><br/>At the high-level Pledging Conference, Counsellor in India's Permanent Mission to the UN, Anjani Kumar said that India has so far contributed six million US Dollars to the fund. Anjani Kumar said, despite resource constraints, India has always been forthcoming within its ability and national circumstance in offering humanitarian assistance as per the needs and requests of friends and partners. CERF allocates approximately 450 million US Dollars in a year for humanitarian operations in about 50 countries.
