In the World Boxing Championships at Baku in Azerbaijan, India's Vikas Krishan will today fight Taras Shelestyuk of Ukraine in the semi-finals of the 69 kilogram welter weight category. By advancing to the semi-finals, 19-year old Vikas has assured India of at least a bronze medal at the World Boxing Championship. Vikas, also the Asian Games Gold medalist had won his quarter-final bout on Wednesday with a superb performance, beating Vasilii Belous of Moldova, 9-8. Vikas is the lone Indian pugilist to qualify for the semi-finals. L Devendro Singh, Jai Bhagwan and Manoj Kumar had failed to make it to the last four stage. However all of them have ensured a berth in the 2012 London Olympics.
