India to clash with South Korea in Kabbadi World Cup opener

The 2016 Kabaddi World Cup is all set to begin in Ahmedabad from today. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will officially launch the event this evening in which India and South Korea clash in the opening match. Earlier, addressing the media at a pre-event press conference, Chief Executive Officer of International Kabaddi Federation Devraj Chaturvedi said that 12 strong teams out of 32 Kabaddi playing countries are participating in this world cup. The final match will be played on 22nd October. The entire game will be played at a new multi-purpose stadium- TransStadia built in Ahmedabad under a public private partnership. Mr. Chaturvedi said that Kabaddi is India's own game and this event will attract more youngsters in to this game. Talking to AIR, Indian captain Anup Kumar said that there is pressure due to the presence of world's best teams. He said that India will try its best to keep the world cup trophy in the country. 12 participating teams are India, USA, England, Australia, Iran, Poland, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Korea, Japan, Argentina, and Kenya.
