Central Silk Board Chairman, K.M. Hanumantharayappa has expressed hope that with consistent supply of raw silk of high quality in adequate quantities and increased production of Bivoltine silk, India will be able to attain self-sufficiency and bring silk import to zero level by 2020. <br/><br/>Mr Hanumantharayappa said in Bengaluru today that the Central Silk Board has been making concerted efforts and developing new technologies for quality cocoon production and its conversion into silk yarn of international standards. <br/><br/>He said, Indigenous Automatic Silk Reeling Package catering to the needs of small and medium scale reelers has been developed by Central Silk Board under the "Make in India" initiative of Prime Minister. He said, these Indigenous Machines will be available in the market by the end of 2017. <br/><br/>He said, these indigenous machines, which are more suitable to Indian conditions, will also address the prevailing skilled manpower shortage in the industry. Mr Hanumantharayappa also informed about the construction of a state-of-the-art "Centre of Excellence for Training" at the main campus of Central Silk Board in Bengaluru. <br/><br/>
