India will launch a global hunt for patented technology to accelerate innovation and hand over patents to small industries to accelerate product development. According to the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, 20 crore rupees will be allocated annually for acquiring the patented technology, develop ideas available with the micro, small and medium enterprises and help them step up production. The department has identified six areas, including affordable healthcare, low cost diagnostics, solar energy, and water to acquire technologies, to help fill innovation gaps creating impediment in product development in small and medium businesses.
