India tightens security for World Cup Hockey

Allaying apprehension in the wake of Pune blast, Delhi Police today briefed representatives of 12 participating countries on security arrangements being made for the World Cup Hockey tournament beginning in the capital from 28th of this month.Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and Special Commissioner of Police Neeraj Kumar briefed them about measures being taken by the city police to ensure foolproof security for the event. After the briefing, senior Pakistani security officials expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.Besides India and Pakistan, Hockey majors like Germany, Britain and Australia are among the 12 teams which willparticipate in the event, considered as a dress rehearsal for Delhi Police ahead of the Commonwealth Games in October.Pakistan security agencies today gave a thumbs up to the security arrangements made for the World Cup hockey tournament beginning in New Delhi from 28th of this month. A team from Islamabad today visited Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, the venue of the World cup to evaluate the security scenario. Pakistani security officials expressed their satisfaction with the security arrangements for the World Cup. Besides India and Pakistan, Hockey majors like Germany, Britain and Australia are among the 12 teams fighting for the championship.AIR correspondent reports over 19,000 security personnel, including 200 gun-totting commandos and 1,000 men of central para military forces will be deployed for ensuring a smooth conduct of Hockey World Cup. The city police has also chalked out an elaborate security and traffic plan for the event.
