India & Thailand sign extradition treaty, agree on MoU against money laundering

India today signed the Extradition Treaty with Thailand for providing a framework to nab the transnational crimes and economic offences. Both the Countries also formalized the treaty for transfer of sentenced persons and 5 more Memoranda of Understanding on intelligence sharing relating to Money laundering terror financing, Geo-Informatics, Space and Cultural cooperation.The two pacts were signed after the delegation level talks between the prime minister Dr.Manmohan Singh and his thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok this evening

In a Joint Statement, both the Prime ministers resolved to further strengthen their relations and elevate them into strategic partnership. In this direction, they agreed that the Thai Look West and India’s Look East policies will play key role in growing as strategic partners. Both New Delhi and Bangkok also resolved to increase cooperation in Defence, Security, Space, Technology and people to people ties.
