Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba today said, India has taken giant strides in the field of indigenous ship design and construction for transiting its Navy from a Buyer to a Builder Navy. He said, the indigenous development of high end technologies and their transition into ship borne equipment and systems is important to attain 100 per cent self-reliance in ship design and construction.<br/><br/>Inaugurating an international seminar on Building India's Future Navy: Technology Imperatives organised by FICCI in New Delhi Admiral Lanba said self-reliance in defence production is a vital pre-requisite for achieving greater strategic autonomy.<br/><br/>Officials of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Integrated Defence Staff, Ministry of Defence, DRDO, industry leaders from India and abroad, academia and thinkers are participating in the two day event which also aims to discuss ways to realize 'Make in India' initiative.
