India take unassailable lead against New Zealand in Davis Cup

India have taken an un-assailable 3-0 lead against New Zealand in the Davis Cup Tennis Group 1 relegation play-off tie.In Chandigarh yesterday, Vishnu Vardhan clinched the second Singles against the Kiwi Number One player, Jose Rubin Statham, in four sets 6-2, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. Yuki Bhambri had won the first Singles against Daniel King-Turner on Friday. Later, India settled the Best of Five Tie in their favour when the duo of Vishnu Vardhan and Divij Sharan defeated the Kiwi pair of Daniel King-Turner and Michael Venus in five sets. With India gaining an unbeatable lead, today's two Reverse Singles matches will be of academic interest only. India will play Chinese Taipei in the next round play-off from October 19 to 21.
